The problem
Customers wanted their own assistant on their own site without a build step, and the team wanted to swap model providers without touching the product code.
My role
Backend and widget work, release flow and environment hygiene.
What I built
- 01
Provider configuration kept in a single source of truth so a new model — including ones with their own API quirks — is a config change, not a refactor.
- 02
A UMD widget SDK built separately and shipped as static assets with the frontend, so embedding is one script tag.
- 03
Magic-link sign-in, invitations and transactional email, with origin checks that reject unauthorised embeds.
- 04
A disciplined branch and merge flow across three environments: rebase onto staging, squash onto production, no merge bubbles.
Outcome
Agents are configurable per customer and embeddable in minutes.
Production stays one clean commit per release, which makes rolling back boring — the goal.
